ÏQl¿¹e lh£¾cË lQe¡hm£ contains a collection of over 2000 pieces of writings of Rabindranath Tagore, categorized into stories, novels, songs and verses, plays and essays as found in published multi volume book editions from Vishwabharati and Sahitya Academy. Installing and Un-installing the Software How do I install the software? To install ÏQl¿¹e lh£¾cË lQe¡hm£ from the distribution CD-ROM, Insert the CD-ROM into your drive. The autorun capability of Windows will start the setup program. If it does not, you have two options: Option 1: Explore the CD and double click on the file setup.exe Option 2: > Select Run from the Start Menu and type in D:\setup.exe > Change 'D' with the letter of your CD-ROM drive. > Install Shield® will then guide you through the installation process. > The Setup program will issue a number of prompts. > Unless you have a reason to override the defaults it is strongly recommended that you accept the installation default settings. (just press OK, Yes, or Next, as appropriate) How do I uninstall the software? Should you wish to uninstall ÏQl¿¹e lh£¾cË lQe¡hm£ perform the following actions: Activate the Control Panel, double click Add/Remove Programs, and double click the ÏQl¿¹e lh£¾cË lQe¡hm£ list box entry. Technical details: The "Uninstall ÏQl¿¹e lh£¾cË lQe¡hm£" procedure performs the following steps: 1. Verify that it is safe to uninstall. 2. Delete files in ÏQl¿¹e lh£¾cË lQe¡hm£ folder 3. Remove the ÏQl¿¹e lh£¾cË lQe¡hm£ icons, desktop shortcut and Start menu entries. 4. Remove the ÏQl¿¹e lh£¾cË lQe¡hm£ entries from the registry. System Requirements What system do I require to run the software? Using Contents How do I see the complete contents? When you run the software for the first time, you can see the complete contents on the Contents Pane i.e. the left pane. In its initial state, the Contents shows the main sections, namely galpa, upanyas You can click on a section to see all the books in that section. For example, click on kabita to see all the books of poem. Similarly, you can click on a book to see all the poems in that book. For example, click on sonar taree to see all the poems in that book. You can click on a poem to see the full poem in the Text Pane i.e. the right pane. At any time, you can click on 'Contents' button on the toolbar to view the complete contents. How do I find a piece of writing? If you know which book contains the story, poem or the song you are looking for, simply navigate the Contents to reach the piece. If you don't remember where the piece is, but remember the name of the piece, a part of its content, or name of a place or character contained within the piece, you can use the Search to find out the piece. Searching and Finding Pieces How do I search the content for a word or phrase? You can search for either a Bengali or an English word or phrase. 1. On the Tool Bar click on the 'Search' button. 2. Enter your search in the box and click Search. Your can enter your text either in Bengali or in English. To learn about how to enter Bengali text, read the help on "How do I type text in Bengali?" How do I use the Advanced Search option? Click on the 'Advanced Search' link to customize your search. Use this option to narrow down your search. In Advanced Search you may: 1. Search within particular Content Types (e.g. within story, poem etc.) 2. Search for a piece of writing within a time period (e.g. >) 3. Search for a piece written from a particular geographic location (e.g.) 4. Search within different portions of a piece (e.g. body text, title of piece, title of books) How do I find a word within a piece? 1. Right-click on the Text Pane, and then click 'Find'. 2. Enter your text in the dialog box. Your can enter your text either in Bengali or in English. To learn about how to enter Bengali text, read the help on "How do I type text in Bengali?" How do I type text in Bengali? Typing Bangla is so easy, that you do not need to know Bengali keying to write in Bengali script. Type in Roman script as you would pronounce the Bengali word. For e.g. you type: amal, tumi, aamaar, tomaar The display is: Ajm, a¥¢j, Bj¡l, ®a¡j¡l IMPORTANT: Try writing the word Llm. You'll find that you would need to type - karala. That is because the text editor does not recognize the nuances of Bangla pronunciation where, sometimes vowels are hidden. Actually when we pronounce Llm, we are hiding the A between l and m The same applies for Qmm hmm etc. It's just a matter of practice before you start typing such words intuitively. Changing Viewing Area How do I adjust my viewing area? Your viewing area contains the Contents Pane to the left and the Text Pane at the right, separated by a Splitter Bar. You can resize your viewing area by dragging the spiller bar at the left of the Text pane. When the Text Pane is in a maximized state, you can drag the spiller bar towards right to resize the panes. How do I maximize my viewing area? To display as much of your document as possible on the Text Pane, you can switch to maximize mode. In this mode, the Contents Pane is removed. > On the Tool Bar, click Maximize Printing a piece How do I print a piece? 1. On the Tool Bar, click on the 'Print' button while the piece is being shown in the Text Pane. 2. Set the printing options you want. Bookmark What is a bookmark? Bookmark is a location or selection of text that you mark for easy future access. ÏQl¿¹e lh£¾cË lQe¡hm£ marks the location with the bookmark. How do I bookmark a piece? 1. Click where you want to insert a bookmark. 2. Right-click the Text Pane, and then click Set Bookmark.
